United Way needs volunteers; March 21 deadline fast approaching
The United Way of Moore County will conduct its Community Assessment in the next few weeks. Our goal is to conduct the assessment over a sixty-day period beginning in late April and completed by June 1, 2011. Volunteers would have this time period to complete a specific number of interviews.
The purpose of the Assessment is to determine community needs that are not being met by current charitable agencies or civic organizations in the County. Volunteers with their own transportation and cell phones are needed to go door-to-door to conduct this survey. Because this is door-to-door, some volunteers could expect a fair amount of walking.
United Way will provide training of best practices for conducting surveys and name badges. Food and beverages will be provided to volunteers on the days the surveys are taken. There will also be publicity in advance of the days the survey will be taken, so the communities in Moore County will recognize the volunteers in their neighborhoods. All municipalities and their law enforcement departments will be notified as well of the days for the survey.
Individuals interested in volunteering for this important community project are asked to email the United Way at unitedway@pinehurst.net and provide your contact information, including a telephone number where you may be reached. You may also respond by calling (910)692-2413 or writing to us at PO Box 207, Southern Pines. We appreciate your consideration of this important United Way program and look forward to hearing from you soon. The deadline to sign up to volunteer is March 21.
