Stuff the Bus! August 5-7
Stuff the Bus is a Moore County Communities in Schools (CIS) initiative aimed at providing school supplies to children in the community who may or not have the proper supplies needed to be successful in school.
The weekend of August 5-7 offers a great opportunity for members of the community to contribute to the drive because it is tax free weekend on school supplies! Among the most needed items for children entering kindergarten through 12th grade are pencils, notebook paper, back backs and folders to keep assignments organized. Each store has a list available for each grade provided by the Moore County teachers.
The CIS Board of Directors is thankful for the many people from different organizations and businesses who will donate their time to collect school supplies at Wal-Mart and Staples. Volunteers will be stationed at both entrances from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m on Aug. 5 and 6 and from 12 to 5 p.m. on Aug. 7, which coincides with the tax-free weekend. Shoppers are encouraged to pick up an extra item or two during their regular back to school shopping to add to the “Stuff the Bus” shopping carts located at the doors.
The mission of Communities in Schools is to empower students to stay in school, learn and prepare for life, a mission that “Stuff the Bus” is instrumental in helping CIS achieve. If you would like to volunteer at the event, please contact Cynthia Bradley at (910) 295-1072 or e-mail cismoore@cismoore.org.
