Deadline for Governor’s Award nominations Oct. 28
County-wide nominations are now being accepted for the 2012 Governor’s Award for Volunteer Service. This prestigious award recognizes and honors the top 5 volunteers in Moore County. Time is of the essence as the deadline for submitting these nominations, October 28th 2011, is quickly approaching.
Every one of our county’s volunteers truly deserves to be recognized for their faithful, life-changing and outstanding volunteer service. Sadly, if they are not nominated they will go unrecognized. Who can nominate a volunteer? You can. Take a look at friends, neighbors, co-workers, church groups, school groups and local businesses and you will see the amazing number of stellar volunteers, both young and old, to choose from. You can nominate anyone from one of 12 categories as long as they are not a family member.
The categories for 2012 are: individual, family, group/team, youth volunteer (age 18 or younger), senior volunteer (age 55 or older), perseverance in volunteerism, national service volunteer, outstanding mentor, faith-based volunteer, corporate volunteerism, and lifetime achievement or non-volunteer director of volunteers.
The deadline is October 28, 2011 at 5:00 P.M. and you have 3 easy ways to complete an official nomination form. You may pick it up at the front desk at the Moore County Senior Enrichment Center located 2 miles north of the Pinehurst traffic circle on 15/501. You may also download it at http://www.moorecountync.gov/index.php/rsvp/upcoming-events or you may request an email version at sklein@moorecountync.gov.
