Aging Advisory Council meets Nov. 22 with special guests
As always the Moore County Department of Aging’s Advisory Council meetings are open to the public. The next meeting is set for Tuesday, Nov. 22 from 9 to 11am with guest speakers Dennis Streets, director of the NC Division of Aging and Adult Services and Joan Pellettier, director of the Triangle J Area Agency on Aging. These meetings are instrumental to the internal workings of the Department of Aging and the Senior Enrichment Center. This month, however, a formal invitation is being extended to the public, in honor of the guest speakers that will be giving a presentation to the council and anyone else who may wish to attend.
Dennis and Joan both have enjoyed long productive careers in the field of aging as service providers and now hold regional positions of policy-making, legislative influence, and grant distribution. They are familiar with the unique position that Moore County is in with regards to a greater population over the age of 60 than under the age of 18. Mr. Streets will address the challenges we face and how we meet the needs of an aging society. Mrs. Pellettier will highlight various programs available to our older citizens.
